There is an opportunity for suitable candidates to become volunteers at MUN and help out the local community as well as gain additional skills and experience.

As a volunteer it is expected of you to:

  1. Help Merton Unity Network (MUN) fulfil its aims and objectives in delivering its services;
  2. Perform volunteering role to the best of your ability;
  3. Follow the organisation's procedures and standards, including health and safety, data protection and equal opportunities;
  4. Ensure the confidential information and documents of the organisation and of its clients is not disclosed or taken off the premises;
  5. Meet time commitments and standards agreed to except in exceptional circumstances, and to give reasonable notice so other arrangements can be made;
  6. Provide referees as agreed who may be contacted, and to agree to a Criminal Record Bureau check being carried out where necessary.

Your role as a volunteer will include assisting with the development of MUN's databases. This work is designed to assist MUN in keeping accurate, up to date, user-friendly information for our internal systems and use of our members.

All volunteers are allocated a named member of staff as their supervisor.

This individual can provide day-to-day help and guidance on any issue related to the voluntary work and is responsible for providing regular support to, and supervision of, the volunteer. Review of a volunteer placement takes place informally through weekly contact between volunteer and supervisor, and assessment of tasks undertaken and completed. During the three month trial period, formal reviews will take place on a monthly basis as necessary.  After completion of the trial period a review will take place, at which point the frequency, duration, and format of future support and supervision will be agreed between the volunteer and his/her supervisor.
